The beginning

Amancio Ortega opens Confecciones GOA, a small dressmaking workshop.

Zara is born

With the opening of the first Zara store in A Coruña (Spain), Amancio Ortega’s endeavor expands from maker to retailer.

1985
Inditex makes it official

The founding brings all our companies together under one banner.

Going global

Zara begins to make its mark across the map with new stores in Porto, New York, and Paris.

1991-99
Our family expands

Pull&Bear, Massimo Dutti, Bershka and Stradivarius joined the Inditex Group.

Same hometown, new HQ

As our new headquarters are built in Arteixo (A Coruña, Spain), Inditex goes public on the Madrid Stock Exchange and Oysho is launched.

New leadership

Óscar García Maceiras becomes our new CEO and Marta Ortega Pérez takes over as Chairperson.

2023
New sustainability targets

At the 2023 Annual Shareholders Meeting, the Group presented the priority initiatives to keep advancing towards an increasingly sustainable value chain and to reduce its emissions by over 50% in 2030, on its path to achieving net zero emissions in 2040, with reduction of at least 90%.
