We are cooperating with Water.org to bring clean water and better sanitation facilities to communities in Bangladesh, Cambodia, India and Brazil
Water is a key resource in the textile industry, and we are committed to sustainable use and management of local water supplies. Ensuring communities have clean water is not only essential for their health and safety, but is a necessity for social development and economic empowerment.
In our four-year partnership agreed in 2015 with Water.org to bring clean water and better sanitation facilities to communities in need in Bangladesh and Cambodia, two of our most important supplier regions, we have donated almost €3 million to their WaterCredit programme.
The programme is providing thousands of small, affordable loans for water connections and toilets to local people, and has already the lives of more than 1 million people in both countries.
Another sizeable donation to Water.org has gone towards research and the New Ventures Fund, which is investigating ways to meet the water crisis and developing initiatives to address the underlying causes of clean water inaccessibility.
Since September 2019, we are cooperating in a new project with Water.og in the Madhya Pradesh region (India) to help organic cotton farmers and their families gain access to improved water and sanitation facilities through small and affordable loans. We have also supported its work in Brazil.
